Queertopia is an exhibition about how queer artists foster joy and find community. It is the creation of our ideal queer world - inviting the viewer into our “queertopia”, submerging them in uninhibited queer love, allowing the beauty of queerness to be reflected upon them. Each artist has created work that showcases their unique queer experiences both as individuals and as members of a community. These personal displays of queerness blend together, forming a queer unity that is far beyond just ourselves. Joy is an act of resistance, and helps to build solidarity between queer people necessary to continue to carry on as we are and thrive in this world. This show documents every artist’s journey of radical acceptance and finding a chosen family; with this show, we invite the viewer to be a part of that family.
